Build 42.16.0 has arrived on the unstable branch with a broad balance pass that touches nearly every system introduced in Build 42. This patch is save-incompatible with previous 42.x worlds, and The Indie Stone strongly recommends starting a fresh character and map.

Occupations have been rebalanced across the board: starting skill levels, trait point budgets, and profession-specific perks have all been adjusted based on community feedback gathered over the 42.13–42.15 testing cycle. The result is a more meaningful choice at character creation, with each occupation offering a genuinely different early-game experience.

Extinction mode — the most demanding of the four presets introduced in 42.15.0 — received targeted tuning after player data showed the loot economy was too punishing in the mid-game. Spawn rates for key crafting materials have been adjusted without reducing the overall difficulty ceiling.

Tailoring and the firearm modification system have also been updated, with attachment slots, repair costs, and crafting requirements revised to align with the ammunition rework from 42.14.0. Our team contributed multiplayer-specific fixes for inventory validation edge cases that surfaced during the 42.15.0 testing period, ensuring all balance changes behave consistently between solo and server play.
