Build 42.15.0 is live on the unstable branch, bringing the most feature-rich update since multiplayer launched — and one where our network engineering work is front and centre.
The biggest addition is a set of four named game-mode presets: Apocalypse, Outbreak, Extinction, and Rising. Each preset dials the population density, loot scarcity, and zombie behaviour to create a distinct difficulty curve, giving new players a clear entry point and veterans a harder challenge without manual sandbox tweaking.
Six new firearms join the arsenal in this patch, spanning pistols, shotguns, and a semi-automatic rifle variant. Each integrates with the ammunition rework introduced in 42.14.0, and all six weapons are fully functional in multiplayer from day one.
On the network side, we shipped targeted stability improvements for high-population servers. The fixes address a race condition in the server-side inventory system that could cause item desync during simultaneous crafting operations — an edge case that became reproducible at scale once more players joined the unstable branch.
